Guide for parents

How do I link my child to the school bus?

Parents follow the school run in the same Wiredly app passengers use. Wiredly isn’t in the app stores yet; this is how it will work at launch, city by city.

Step by step

  1. Get a link code

Your child’s school or bus operator gives you a one-time link code for your child. Children are never found by searching; only a code links them.

  2. Open Family & school

In the Wiredly app go to Profile → Family & school and choose to link a child. You sign in with your OneVault account first if you have not already.

  3. Enter the code

Type the code, or tap Paste if it came in a message. If the code is wrong, used or expired, the app tells you; ask the school or operator for a new one.

  4. See today’s school run

Your child appears in My children on the Search tab and on the Live tab. You see the pickup time and stop, and a timeline of picked up, on board and got off as the crew marks them. While the run is happening you can follow the bus live.

  5. Report an absence

Tap Mark absent for the morning, the afternoon or both, up to 60 days ahead, before the pickup time. The crew sees it on the roster.

  6. Look back or unlink

Open your child to see any day in the last 90 days. Unlink removes the child from your account.

  7. Alerts on your phoneComing soon

Alerts when your child boards or gets off, and when the bus is approaching your stop, are coming. Today you see the same information in the app’s timeline.

Questions

Common questions.

How many children can I link for free?

Plans and prices for parents will be announced before launch. See pricing.

Who else can see my child?

Only parents and guardians linked to that child. School runs are never shown on the public map. See school transport.

Is this the Wiredly tracker for children?

No. This guide is about following the school bus. The tracker is a separate device that is still in design; see Wiredly for families.
