Safety and privacy
Built to be trusted.
Wiredly handles journeys, phone numbers and vehicle locations. Here is, in plain words, how the apps are built to protect them. The apps are not available yet. No jargon, and no badges we haven’t earned.
Location
Location sharing is opt-in, and only for vehicles.
- The vehicle shares its location, from the crew’s phone, not the passengers.
- The crew turns on journey tracking for a trip and sees a clear explanation first.
- Passengers see a vehicle only when its operator switches on sharing for that trip.
- The vehicle disappears from passengers’ screens when sharing is turned off or the trip ends.
- The passenger app asks for your location only when you look for stops near you. It then uses your approximate area (about 100 metres) to find the closest stops, and does not save it to your account or share it.
- Wiredly staff cannot look up a location for support unless that access is deliberately switched on. It is off by default.
“Position comes from the bus crew’s device and updates every few seconds while shared.”
What the passenger app tells you on the live bus screen.Tickets and money
No card data. No fake tickets. No double bookings.
You pay on board
Today you pay the crew on board. Wiredly does not collect, see or store card numbers. When online payment comes, card details will be handled by a licensed payment provider, not by us.
Signed QR codes
Each ticket’s QR code carries a signature made with a secret key on our server. A copied or edited code fails the check, and a ticket can be boarded only once.
One seat, one passenger
The database itself refuses to sell the same seat twice for the same part of a trip, so a double booking can’t slip through.
Your account
Your phone number, protected.
Verified once
Your mobile number is verified once by OneVault, the account you sign in with, before your first booking. Wiredly never asks you for a code.
Stored securely on your phone
Sign-in keys are kept in your phone’s secure storage. Saved tickets are encrypted. Signing out removes them.
Delete your account
When the apps launch, you’ll be able to delete your account in the app or by email.
Crew phones
A locked-down app on every vehicle.
The crew’s phone handles tickets and fares, so we treat it with care.
- Paired to its vehicle with a one-time QR code that expires after 5 minutes and is never stored.
- Its access key lasts 24 hours and is renewed automatically; an old key that is reused locks the phone out until it is paired again.
- GPS positions, the ticket list and saved boardings are encrypted on the phone with keys that can’t leave it.
- Screenshots and screen recordings are blocked in the app.
- The owner can remove a lost phone from the vehicle at any time.
- Offline ticket checks never override a “no” from the server.
Inside Wiredly
Careful access, on the record.
Two-step staff sign-in
Wiredly staff sign in to our support console with a password and a code sent to their phone.
Every action logged
Staff actions, such as approving or suspending an operator’s fleet, are written to an audit log.
Encrypted in transit
The apps talk to our servers only over HTTPS. Release builds refuse unencrypted connections.
Your privacy rights, wherever you are
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and UK GDPR, US state privacy laws, Canada’s PIPEDA, Brazil’s LGPD and India’s DPDP Act give you rights over your personal data, including access, correction and deletion. Our Privacy Notice explains how to use them.
Found a security problem?
Please tell us privately at privacy@wiredly.app with the subject “Security report”. We will reply and keep you updated while we fix it. Please don’t access other people’s data or disrupt the service while testing.
Questions
Safety and privacy questions.
Does Wiredly track my location?
No. The passenger app uses your location only when you look for stops near you, and only your approximate area (about 100 metres). It does not save it to your account or share it. The live position of a bus comes from the crew’s phone, only while the trip is shared.
Does Wiredly store my card details?
No. Today you pay the crew on board, and Wiredly does not collect, see or store card numbers.
Can someone copy my ticket?
No. Each ticket carries a security code that the crew’s app checks, so a copied or edited code fails the check, and a ticket can be used to board only once.
How do I delete my account?
The apps aren’t available yet, so there are no accounts. When they launch, you’ll be able to delete your account in the app or by email.
